The "Initiativkreis Albert-Einsteinhaus" was founded in 1999 by 5 citizens of Caputh as a part of the "Chronistenvereinigung Potsdam-Mittelmark (CPM) e.V.". At that stage, the "Einsteinhaus" was extremely desolated, and the end of the interminable proceeding of restitution was still not conceivable.

The public was made aware of the complicated situation by a variety of events (such as exhibitions, presentations). In 2005, the "Einsteinjahr" (the year of Einstein), the house was redecorated.

In 2006 the "Initiativkreis" became independent and has since been trying to bring interested people and institutions together. Its goals are to look after the intellectual heritage of Albert Einstein and Konrad Wachsmann. The exhibition in Caputh should be preserved and put up as an information centre.

Patron of the exhibition is Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr. h.c. Rolf Emmermann.

The "Initiativkreis" picks up local, contemporary, scientific and architectural aspects through presentations, events and publications. By doing so it aims at general public interest.
